Child & Youth Mental Health

Overview

The following studies from the Trauma Research Initiative for Schools reflect the work of TRIS to positively influence the mental health of Arkansas children and youth. In service of this goal, TRIS provides training and resources to K-12 school personnel to help them recognize and respond to the impact of trauma on students.

TRIS is a collaboration between the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, the Psychiatric Research Institute, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and other key stakeholders. TRIS was established with a grant from the Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas. To learn more about TRIS, visit http://tris-ar.org.

Youth Mental Health Needs Assessment

The following report is a statewide needs assessment of school counselors, school-based mental health professionals, and parents. Conducting this study helps us better understand the state of youth mental health in Arkansas, and what youth, and these adults who support them, need for teens to better manage stress, heal from trauma, and navigate the challenges of life.cover of report
