Course Descriptions
- Self-Compassion
A discussion and reflection-based overview of the nature of Dr. Kristin Neff’s work. Participants will learn what mindful self-compassion is, the essential components, myths around self-compassion, and how to implement self-compassion skills in everyday life. Participants will also have the opportunity to do some mindfulness exercises during the session and test their initial understanding of their own self-compassion. - Assertive Communication
An expansion on Effective Communication, this training focuses on the elements of the assertive style of communication and provides tools and the opportunity to practice and reflect on those new skills within open discussions. - Building your bounce: simple strategies for a resilient you.
A multi-part open discussion on how to promote and maintain resilience. Skills discussed will include how to build resilience, the benefits of increasing resilience, and how higher resilience can allow you to better face challenges in life. - Introduction to mindfulness
An open discussion on the basics of mindfulness. Participants will learn a brief history of mindfulness and how to practice it day to day to promote health and wellbeing. Participants will also be guided through a mindfulness exercise. - Taking Care of Yourself – Self-Care for ECEs
An open discussion about the start of stress, how we contribute to our stress, and how to use self-care skills to cope with harmful stress. Skills discussed include how to identify stressors and stress responses, how to use self-care to reduce stress, and how to use your strengths to engage in better self-care. - Let’s Talk: Learning Effective Communication to Utilize in (AND OUT!) of the Workplace
An open discussion to aid in identifying communication issues, communication styles, why communication is important to wellness, and how to engage specialized communication skills to express needs and boundaries with others in a respectful manner.
