When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: Clinical reasoning. I love learning how different clinical pictures can be handled by different, competent physicians to reach the same conclusion.
Things that make me unique are: I married my high-school sweetheart at 19 after my first year in college.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Spend time with my family, play outside with my kids and dogs, woodworking.

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: I was incredibly impressed with the residents I worked with here as a student. The level of training and compassion that they had every day was apparent, and I wanted to be a part of that.

Home Town: Thibodaux, Louisiana
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: Preventative medicine, patient education, and techniques for improving the transition of care from pediatrics to adult medicine.
Things that make me unique are: I have a black lab doggo named Gator.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: I like traveling to new places, cooking, hiking whenever I get the chance, and weight-lifting.
To get myself motivated I think of: How far I’ve come already and the satisfaction of finishing a task. Also coffee, lots of coffee.

Book: The Wheel of Time series, A Song of Ice and Fire (will we ever get the next book?!), pretty much anything fiction or historical fiction. You can typically find me reading more than one book at a time.
Movie: The Princess Bride
TV: The latest craze on Netflix or HBO, Scrubs, The Good Place.
Music: Podcasts (Radiolab, The Daily, Freakonomics, etc.) and random Spotify playlists.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to:Hike Pinnacle Mountain or Rattlesnake Ridge and then get food at Cathead’s Diner, kBird, Lost Forty, or Raduno’s.
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: I thoroughly enjoyed working with the residents and faculty during my away rotation at Arkansas Children’s Hospital!

Home Town: Anson, Texas
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: Understanding the “big picture” behind diseases. Things that make me unique are: I’m always ready for an adventure! Whether its new foods, new places, or new people I’m always up for a change of pace.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Get outdoors and spend time in nature with my family.
To get myself motivated I think of: The hard work of my parents.

Home Town: New Orleans, Louisiana
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: Pathophysiology. I feel that medicine is a wonderful puzzle, and I enjoy figuring out how the puzzle pieces fit together. Clinical practice, new innovative practices, and social determinants of health are all pieces to the puzzle. Understanding the “why” behind disease processes and learning how to apply these concepts to preventative medicine have inspired me to pursue a career in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics.
Things that make me unique are: My long, curly hair. On a serious note, though, hearing about other people’s life stories truly inspires me. I love to try new things and explore new places. However, after years of trying and practicing, I still cannot whistle.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Travel and be outdoors, cook and bake, read, play board games, complete puzzles, and spend time with my wonderful family and friends.
To get myself motivated I think of: All my numerous blessings. I am truly grateful that I have made it this far in my education and medical career. I am excited to help others through my profession as a physician.

Book: Anything fiction from romantic comedies to historical fiction to mysteries or even a motivational book.
Movies: Classic movies like Singing in the Rain or Meet Me in St. Louis, any of the Harry Potter movies, and a good romantic comedy like Sweet Home Alabama, Life As We Know It, or The Wedding Date.
TV: The Voice, Friends, Grey’s Anatomy (because I have not given up yet), Yellowstone, Gilmore Girls, the Ellen Show, and the sporting events (Geaux Tigers and Geaux Saints!).
Music: everything! I can listen to anything from Country Music to Pop to Singer-Songwriter. Lauren Daigle, Dave Matthews Band, Ed Sheeran, Michael Buble, Anderson East, and Celine Dion to name a few.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to: Although this will be my first time living in Little Rock, I am looking forward to hiking at Pinnacle Mountain State Park and exploring the River Market district.
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: I truly felt at home during my interview day. Everyone from the residents to the attendings to the program coordinator welcomed me with open arms. UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital offer several opportunities for me to expand my medical knowledge and improve my clinical skills as I treat a wide variety of patients with the support of a strong team.

Home Town: Little Rock, Arkansas
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: factors affecting Arkansans’ access to health, particularly for women and adolescents.
Things that make me unique are: I had three front teeth and six wisdom teeth…?
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: weight lift, read non-medical books, and cook vegan meals (cause they last forever in the freezer).
To get myself motivated I think of: all the people who came before me and managed to accomplish it.
Favorites
Book: a non-gory, usually dated murder mystery with a strong female lead.
Movies: Holiday in Handcuffs; all other movies are too much of a time commitment.

Music: whatever is catchy and likely belonging to the pop genre.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to: Bossa Nova is the best restaurant in town, and the best part of living in LR is that we have access to so many gorgeous nature trails right in the heart of the capitol!
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: we are competitive in what resources we can offer our patients, and as the major children’s hospital in the state, we are providers for a wide variety of disease processes.

Home Town: Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas
When I study medicine, I most enjoy learning about:the complex differences in the pediatric and adult populations, but also how you can take a little bit from each to create and see the bigger picture!
Things that make me unique are: I’m a doctor in a family full of amazing farmers.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: spend time with my wife Amy and our rescued Walker coonhound, Riley. I also like to do all the cliché Arkansas things: hunting, spending time at our family farm, and watching the Razorbacks any chance I get.
To get myself motivated I think of: my faith and family. I also think of the underserved people of east Arkansas and how I one day hope to return and practice there.

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and: the children of Arkansas deserve passionate and dedicated physicians to take care of them. I was also a patient at ACH when I was a kid, and I am so happy I could match at a place that has had such an impact on my life!

Home Town: Bald Knob, AR
When I study medicine, I most enjoy learning about: while I prefer a variety of topics over a single, focused topic, I am naturally drawn towards cardiology.
Things that make me unique are: I have two children, Gatlin and Ivy, with my wonderful wife Lauren. I also am an avid chess player.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: play type of sport, hunting, fishing, playing chess, solve puzzles
To get myself motivated I think of: I try and picture myself at the end of the journey in order to motivate me to stay disciplined in the moment.

I chose: I love dealing with the intricacies and physiologic differences that make pediatric medicine different from adult medicine.

Home Town: Rogers, Arkansas
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: pathophysiology of diseases, preventative medicine and health disparities, chronic illness management, and how to better patient and medical education.
Things that make me unique are: I can usually whip up a meal with whatever leftovers or produce is left in the fridge and I never follow recipes. I also got a blackbelt in Taekwondo and did a year of synchronized swimming (yes, we did formations to music in the water) during my childhood years.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: play and watch tennis, dance, paint, create chalkboard/digital art (@pd.creates), eat and cook new foods, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
To get myself motivated I think of: my family and how grateful I am to be where I am today.

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: the people I got to work with during my med school rotations were phenomenal and so supportive! I also loved the patient population and wanted to be a part of the impact that ACH has in our state.

Things that make me unique are: I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and one of my favorite things to do is go to LSU football games! I still get chills when the entire stadium stands to sing “Callin’ Baton Rouge”
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: go to Orange Theory Fitness, cook, and cheer on the LSU Tigers!
To get myself motivated I think of: all the hard work I’ve put in to get to this point

Study: Pathophysiology of disease processes and the physiology of our body functions. It’s interesting how your body is like a giant puzzle! Unique: I love to dance! I used to dance Salsa in Dallas for a year, however haven’t found much time to contribute that hobby. So instead, I’d do dance workouts on YouTube with The Fitness Marshall. I welcome you all to join me!!!!!
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: train and play with my dogs (Charizard and Vulpix), gardening and playing tennis with my husband. Occasionally, I’ll play tunes on the piano.
To get myself motivated I think of: my parents and remembering the struggles they went through seeking medical care due to language and cultural barrier.

When I study medicine, I most enjoy learning about: I love making a differential. It’s like a very complicated puzzle. I also enjoy how intricate the organ systems work together!
Things that make me unique are: I’ve been to 22 different countries and hoping to add more!
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Bake, run, garden, read, visit new restaurants, and attend concerts.
To get myself motivated I think of: The reasons I started medicine and of all the positive affirmation I’ve received from my social support!

When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: congenital heart disease and caring for vulnerable populations.
Things that make me unique are: I am a Lonoke County Master Gardener, I was a surrogate with twins for my childhood best friend during my third year of medical school, and I am a medical provider in the Arkansas National Guard.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to:garden, spend time at my family’s fruit and vegetable farm Barnhill Orchards, adventure with my husband and our dogs Comet and Padfoot, and go to Costco – the Food Court Cold Brew Latte Freeze is life changing!
