Dr. Erika Petersen was live on KLRT to talk about a new study that can help reduce pain from leg amputation. The types of pain the study focuses on are chronic pain that makes it hard to wear a prosthesis and phantom pain, which occurs when a missing part of their body hurts even though it is no longer there. Dr. Petersen presented a demo of a pacemaker for pain that is connected directly to the nerve, which essentially blocks the pain.
(Update 7/22/19: the video link is no longer live on the KLRT website).
