As a part of our broader education initiatives, resident education is a priority at the UAMS Interventional Pain Clinic. Every year, we have numerous resident physicians from Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Addiction Medicine and Rheumatology fellows rotate in our clinic. Our goal is to provide an excellent educational experience to all rotating resident physicians and improve pain care throughout Arkansas and our region.
Our anesthesiology residents rotate for one month as a CA-2 (PGY-3) as a required rotation. After successful completion of their CA-2 rotation, they have the opportunity to return as a part of a CA-3 (PGY-4) elective rotation. The residents participate in daily didactics with faculty, journal club presentations, as well as a pre-test/post-test. The residents work under close supervision of our faculty in both the clinic and procedure area.
