I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of: The large volumes and catchment area, amazing faculty, friendly fellows, and awesome ancillary staff.
This is what I love most about fellowship: The abundant opportunities to continually learn new things from engaging faculty and mentors.  
This is what I love most about Little Rock: Little Rock has all of the amenities of a large city while having the hospitality of a small community. 
My PEM interests include: Trauma, injury prevention 
In my free time… : I enjoy bike riding, reading, skiing, traveling, walking my doggie
Other things to know about me: My husband, Jordan, is currency completing his MD/ PhD. We have a very fluffy bernedoodle, Isabelle, who enjoys going for walks at Two Rivers.

I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of: I chose ACH/UAMS for fellowship because I love Arkansas and because the ED medical team, fellows, and our program coordinator are people who I wanted to work with. I also knew that that I would have excellent training experiences, especially since ACH is the only tertiary children’s hospital in the state. 
This is what I love most about fellowship: Definitely the people! 
This is what I love most about Little Rock: My neighborhood, Hillcrest! It is a close community with great restaurants and fun events!
My PEM interests include: Ultrasound!
In my free time… : I enjoy spending time with friends/family, gardening, live music, and outdoor adventures! 
Other things to know about me: I am married to my best friend, Emily! Emily is an Ob-Gyn resident at UAMS and dog-mom to our yellow-lab, Hoot! The three of us love to go on walks and adventures together.

I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of: Being the main children’s hospital for Arkansas means you see the sickest kids in the whole state.  You also get tons of trauma and ultrasound experience.  Also the faculty/fellows really are really awesome
This is what I love most about fellowship: The faculty and my co-fellows are all awesome.  It also is a really great place to train because you’ll see pretty much everything
This is what I love most about Little Rock: There’s tons of really cool outdoor activities
My PEM interests include: Ultrasound, Trauma
In my free time… : I love game nights, trivia, playing/watching sports, and doing anything outdoors
Other things to know about me:  My parents and 2 brothers live in Alabama.  I love getting to visit them and be the fun uncle to my adorable niece and nephew.

I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of:  it's stellar reputation, level 1 trauma center designation, and a one stop shop as the only pediatric health system in the state with their own burn center, poison control center and with enough volume to keep you plenty busy
My PEM interests include: Clinical informatics and the utilization of AI in medicine, POCUS, and simulation
In my free time… : I like all the classic outdoorsy things like hiking, camping, kayaking
Other things to know about me: I am married to a truly extraordinary little firecracker of a women named Miriam and we have a son, Gus!  We also have a 9 year old Australian shephard-Poodle mix named Maximus, who acts more like a puppy and probably should have been named Goofy.

I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of:  Most of my family is in Arkansas, and I also spent time at ACH as a patient when I was little. I knew it was an amazing hospital from my personal experiences, and then I got the chance to do an audition rotation there, which is when I knew it was the perfect fit! All of the fellows, attendings, and residents that I worked with were so awesome and welcoming, and I knew it would be a great place to train based on the volume and acuity I saw within the short time I spent there. 
My PEM interests include: Ultrasound and child abuse medicine
In my free time… : I like to hike, go on jeep rides, and try new restaurants. You can also catch me listening to a Taylor Swift vinyl any chance I get!
Other things to know about me: I have a mini aussie named Rey whose life revolves around frisbee and a cat named Winky who loves to hiss at everyone but her mom.

Did Residency at: Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX
I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of: the positive feedback I received about the program and how they support their fellows.  I also liked how comfortable everyone made me feel during the interview process.  
This is what I love most about fellowship: The diverse pathology and the ability to focus on what I love- emergency medicine.
This is what I love most about Little Rock: I don't know yet but am looking forward to having seasons and being able to enjoy outdoor activities.  I am also looking forward to visiting parks.
My PEM interests include: Ultrasound!
In my free time… : I love to try new restaurants and travel to new places.  I sometimes run/jog.  Anything I can do that is spending time with family and friends.
Other things to know about me: My husband, Tomas, is a pharmacist and has supported my continuation in training.  I have the most energetic 5-year old step-son Lucca.  And we have a dog who is just as energetic, Olivia.  My family is a typical Colombian family and we are a very close bunch.

Anything else: I'm passionate about my job, and I can't imagine doing anything else.  Going into the ED for shifts always made me joyful and free.

I chose UAMS/ACH for fellowship because of: I chose ACH/UAMS for fellowship because the faculty interactions during my interview seemed indicative of a workplace full of providers who care about and enjoy working with each other.  Every single person I talked with also gave the impression that they are enthusiastic about training their fellows.
This is what I love most about fellowship: To be determined...but I am most excited about getting to know the faculty and the growth in knowledge and skillset that comes with more specialized training in emergency medicine.
This is what I love most about Little Rock: I'm still very new to the area, but I love having such easy access to a rock climbing gym!
My PEM interests include: Ultrasound/POCUS, trauma
In my free time… : I enjoy rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, disc golf, guitar, and pretty much anything that fits into "____ + game" (video, board, card, etc)
Other things to know about me: I have a lovely wife named Lauren who works as a pharmacist.  We have a Boykin spaniel named Daisy who is as friendly and cuddly as a dog can be.

Anything else? I love to teach and work with residents/medical students.  My non-PEM interests include palliative medicine, and I hope to follow my PEM training with a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship with the end goal of working in both fields at an academic institution!
