Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellows (2022-2023)
Hometown: Brookhaven, MS
When I study medicine, I most enjoy learning about: the rapid identification of life-threatening illnesses and subsequent treatment strategies used to stabilize very sick individuals.
Things that make me unique are: my ability to use humor to de-escalate very tense situations within the emergency department along with my ability to work in famous movie references at least once per shift.
I'm not only a doctor, I also like to: explore every mountain, river, and lake in Arkansas. The Buffalo Wilderness has become my second home away from home. I also like to pretend I'm really good at fitness by Crossfitting at one of the local gyms here in town.
To get myself motivated, I think of: every 80's/90's era rock song with a pretty rad guitar solo (i.e. Eruption, Sweet Child o' Mine, Even Flow)
The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I'm reading: anything by famous Natchez, MS author Greg Isles or something related to murder mystery novels or horror fiction.
With popcorn in hand the movie I'm watching is: O Brother, Where Art Thou?
I chose the UAMS Pediatric Emergency Medicine Program because it's wonderful and: the people feel more like family rather than coworkers, and taking care of the kids of Arkansas has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life thus far!

When I study medicine, I most enjoy learning about: Lifestyle changes that the patient and/or parents can make to help improve or prevent disease and illness.
Things that make me unique are: The need to make a list for everything I do. I have two furbabies. The oldest is a Plott Hound/Australian Shepherd mix named Zoe who just completed her first 5k! The youngest is Henry, a yellow lab, who is guardian of the house and a big momma’s boy.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Run, hike, dance around my house with the dogs, and work on completing bucket list items!
To get myself motivated I think of: The path that has led me to where I am currently, and of course my furbabies, who rely on me.
The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I’m reading: Anything from how to be a boss babe, to random fictional books Amazon suggested, to books that include real stories about mental health.
With popcorn in hand the movie I’m watching is: Harry Potter for sure.
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and...: The welcoming nature of everyone I encountered during my 4-week PICU/CVICU rotation and their genuine willingness to help me in any capacity was like no other. I knew I just HAD to be a part of a program and family that special.

When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: The complex interactions between the human body and different pathologies. And how we can alter and affect these interactions to help our patients!
Things that make me unique are: Although I grew up in the Midwest, I consider myself southern! I went to undergraduate school in Louisiana where I played division 1 baseball. This is also where I met my amazing wife! We love to be outside and spend time at the lake with our awesome dog, Lily! I continue to work on my relationship with Christ and walk with him through the life he has planned!
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Workout or play sports with my friends, specifically baseball/softball and basketball. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends at Lake Ouachita and taking my dog, Lily, on walks/runs and to play.
To get myself motivated I think of: How lucky I am to have gotten where I am in life. This is an amazing opportunity that is all too often taken for granted.
With popcorn in hand the movie I’m watching is: Either the Sandlot or any Will Smith movie.
Without a DVR on my cable box I’d miss (or I’m in front of the TV so I won’t miss): wife records all of the Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and...: As soon as I walked through the doors I knew the hospital was a special place, where we as physicians get the opportunity to change lives and have our lives changed by the people we work with and work to help.
