Message from the Program Director
Welcome to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Clinical Informatics Fellowship Training Program!
As Program Director, I am thrilled that you are considering Clinical Informatics for your medical subspecialty training. The UAMS Department of Biomedical Informatics is an outstanding home for the program, with many innovative projects and initiatives in biomedical informatics, data science, clinical care, educational activities, and academic research. UAMS is committed to growing the next generation of well-trained clinical informaticians who understand the value of information technology and are ready to transform the delivery of healthcare.
Our faculty and fellows advance the interface between healthcare and computer science. We understand that healthcare is complex and that informatics science is ever-changing. Our training program is designed to balance the applied aspects of clinical informatics with a quality education in biomedical informatics, practical hands-on operational experience, diverse real-world rotations, as well as dedicated mentoring and supervision for each Clinical Informatics fellow. We evolve along with the emerging science of medicine and informatics.
Our fellows train at two world-class academic healthcare training centers — Arkansas Children’s Hospital and UAMS Medical Center — where they learn to be leaders in managing the needs of complex health systems, while also continuing to practice clinically in their specialty field.
I encourage you to explore this website to learn more about our program. We are very excited by this opportunity to train future generations of clinical informaticians, who are poised to transform patient care and contribute to the growing science of biomedical informatics!
Best regards,
