Andrew Tran’s Research Honored at Southern Society for Pediatric Research

Andrew Tran shows certificate

Andrew Tran is a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Clinical Informatics fellow who has been working in both fields in research and clinical care. Andrew’s project utilized the Epic Cosmos database to underscore the critical need for mental health screening in patients diagnosed with von Willebrand Disease, particularly those experiencing bleeding symptoms. This research was recognized through its acceptance for publication in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. In addition, it was awarded as the Runner Up for Best Abstract at last year’s Fellow’s Day and was honored with a Trainee Travel Award for Research at the Southern Society for Pediatric Research meeting in February 2024. This research underscored the importance of mental health in the management of chronic conditions as well as the importance of accuracy in medical charting for large database research.
