Somaya Ibrahim represented the Bagchi Lab at the annual American Physiology Summit held in Minneapolis last month. Two highly competitive abstracts were submitted for the meeting from very divergent projects. Somaya earned four oral presentations and two poster presentations from these. In addition, both of her abstracts received the highly coveted “Abstract of Distinction” recognition. This is the second year in a row for this recognition, which doubled during this year’s conference. The highlight of this meeting for Somaya, and therefore the Bagchi lab, is the highly prestigious Martin Frank Travel Award that she received for her outstanding work. This is a highly competitive society-wide award meant to increase participation of those pursuing professional careers in physiological sciences, and given to graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and early career faculty. The lab is thankful to all the collaborators on these projects and funding support from the American Heart Association and office of the VCRI/ABI.
Way to go, Somaya! We are all so proud of you!
