Drs. Frank and Rosie Simmen recently traveled to Delphi, Greece to attend the 7th International Meeting on KLF/SP Transcription Factors that took place October 19-22, 2024. The Symposium ‘Dawn of the Precision Medicine Era: Druggable and Undruggable KLF/SP Factors, Phosphatases and Other Signaling Effectors in Human Disease’ brought together senior and early career scientists from the USA, Australia, Europe, China and Japan and covered presentations on systems biology, organ function and cellular signaling in both health and disease. Dr. Frank Simmen co-chaired the session on Systems Biology, while Dr. Rosie Simmen co-chaired the Cellular Senescence and Aging session. KLFs on Female Gynecological Pathologies and GI tract biology were focused areas of research in the Simmen’s laboratory groups at UAMS.

Dr. Rosie Simmen also participated in the Joint Irish-UK Endocrine Meeting on October 14-15, 2024 in Belfast, Ireland in her role as Deputy Editor of the Endocrine Connections, an official journal of the British Society for Endocrinology and the European Society of Endocrinology. Dr. Simmen discussed the Themed Collection on the topic of ‘Transcriptional Drivers of Endocrine Disorders’ that she is co-leading with Dr. Gwen Lomberk from the Medical College of Wisconsin, with meeting attendees.
