Mentoring
During each resident’s PGY-1 year they will select a mentor, or can choose to pair with a mentor from their assigned Mentor Group. We encourage residents to seek out mentors that can help guide them through their training in terms of career, scholarly activity and educational needs. We require residents to meet quarterly with their mentors, either virtually or in-person.
Individualized Learning Plans (ILP)
Residents will develop their ILP using input from their personal insights, Resident Observational Clinical Assessment (ROCA) forms, rotation evaluations, short- and long-term goal. The ILP is a ‘living document’ and should be revisited by the resident on a monthly basis to identify areas of strength and weakness, accomplishments and goals still to be met. At each mentor meeting and when residents have their semi-annual Appreciative Inquiry with the Program Director, the resident brings the ILP with them to review.
