Conference Curriculum

Wednesday Conference

Our weekly 4-hour conference is a high-impact, intentionally designed curriculum built for the modern emergency physician. Grounded in core EM content and aligned with evolving ABEM Certifying Exam and ACGME requirements, sessions emphasize clinical reasoning, decision-making, and real-world application.

We use a dynamic, multi-modal approach—high-yield didactics, interactive learning, hands-on experiences, simulation, procedural and cadaver labs, and field-based learning—while integrating professional development and intentional space for reflection, connection, and sustainability in practice. Dedicated board-focused sessions, including ITE and certifying exam preparation, are built into the curriculum.

Journal Club

Our residency program is committed to fostering lifelong learning and ensuring that professional growth continues well beyond graduation. As part of our evidence-based medicine curriculum, we have reimagined the traditional journal club to focus not only on the critical appraisal of medical literature, but also on the practical challenge of translating new evidence into everyday clinical practice.

Residents and faculty meet monthly to discuss impactful and emerging studies, developing the skills needed to thoughtfully evaluate, adapt, and implement evidence-based changes in patient care. This unique approach encourages intellectual curiosity, supports meaningful quality improvement initiatives, and provides residents with opportunities to explore topics they are passionate about. By emphasizing both scholarship and real-world application, our curriculum prepares graduates to become thoughtful clinicians and leaders in the ongoing advancement of emergency medicine.
