The Little Rock Metropolitan Area, known as Central Arkansas, is the most populous metro area in Arkansas, with an estimated population exceeding 750,000. Centered on the state capital, it serves as a major economic, political, and transportation hub in the South, featuring a low cost of living. The core includes Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Benton, Bryant, Maumelle, and Sherwood. The region boasts a cost of living and housing costs significantly lower than the national average. The area is a hub for government, healthcare,  finance and numerous state agencies. Situated in central Arkansas, it acts as a gateway between the Arkansas Timberlands and the Delta, located near the Ouachita Mountains. The area is heavily influenced by the Arkansas River, providing extensive park systems and recreational opportunities.

Vacation and Sick Leave 

Each resident receives 21 days (15 weekdays and six weekend days) of paid vacation each year.  There are 12 days per year available for use as sick leave.
