What are your particular clinical interests?
I believe in optimizing the time and resources available for a desired outcome for the patient sitting in front of me. As family physicians, the long term bonds allow us to focus on root causes along with the problem at hand which results in better clinical outcomes. I am interested in enhancing my procedural skills in outpatient and inpatient setting. In day to day clinical practice, I plan on providing preventive/lifestyle medicine along with having a sustainable health goal for each patient.
As a future PCP, working at the ground level, it is crucial to understand the changing trends in medicine and subsequently spark a curiosity to conduct research to fill the gaps in clinical practices, which essentially leads to quality improvement.
Why did you choose Family Medicine?
I enjoy inpatient and outpatient medicine equally. I also do not want to restrict myself to any patient population. Family Medicine is the ideal specialty that allows me to practice this full spectrum medicine, while providing options to tailor my practice in any way I chose. Interacting with patients from different walks of life and being able to connect with people from many different background brings me tremendous joy. It also makes me a better person and a well rounded physician.
Why did you choose the Little Rock Family Medicine residency program?
UAMS Little Rock truly provides the best of both worlds: Academia with rigorous clinical training would be my ideal program, along with the diversity of the patient population, complicated clinical cases, and addressing social determinants of health. It will prepare me for anything and everything.
During the interview day, the faculty, residents, and staff were supportive, thorough, and truly interested in picking the next members of their small family! I understood that the excellent faculty with varied life experiences will bring a whole lot of depth to training to both professional and personal growth. Other than a well structured yet evolving curriculum, what stood out was the focus on structured didactics, emphasis on wellness, and encouragement to pursue academia. I want to learn everything that Family Medicine has to offer and hence this is the place to be.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
I do identify myself as a jack of all trades and Bachelor of Medicine on my Instagram Bio. I am a trained classical Kathak dancer. I played university basketball and enjoy working out. I enjoy painting/art/DIY craft projects, and I tend to lose sleep trying to fix technical issues on any electronic devices. I believe in passing forward the resources and mentorship I received, so I am always open to helping out people in need via social media platforms
