What is your hometown?
Ozuitem, Abia State, Nigeria.
Where did you attend medical school?
University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria.
What are your particular clinical interests?
I love outpatient medicine and preventive care because I want to have a long-term therapeutic relationship with diverse patients from childhood to older adulthood, and guide them towards a healthy and productive life.
The ongoing pandemic has shown that telemedicine continues to be an invaluable medium to connect to patients. I am passionate about digital health and will learn the required skills to enhance healthcare delivery.
I have a strong desire to teach and update myself on new trends. I will go into academia post-residency. I believe my career as a family physician will be a blend of both academia and outpatient medicine.
Why did you choose Family Medicine?
I chose Family Medicine because it bridges my diverse clinical interests and my non-clinical interests. No other specialty comes this close to such diversity. With Family Medicine, I can attend to all kinds of patients and work efficiently in a variety of settings. I am my patients’ doctor at all times, through thick and thin, especially in underserved communities.
Family Medicine has a great work-life balance. In my spare time, I can explore and develop my creative skills as well as build and expand a humanitarian organization geared towards the underserved.
Why did you choose the Little Rock Family Medicine residency program?
UAMS Little Rock Family Medicine residency stood out for me because of the diverse curriculum that cuts across many specialties and is rich in preventive care, procedures, and community health initiatives.
During the interview session, I met a welcoming team including both members of faculty and residents. I felt a strong connection with everyone. It was “home away from home” for me. I just knew that UAMS Little Rock Family Medicine residency was and still is the right place for me.
Little Rock has a richly diverse community of all races and backgrounds. I am excited to meet, interact and learn from all kinds of people.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
I love entertaining people and myself. I enjoy singing, listening, and dancing to songs, acting, and writing. I love R&B, electronic pop, Afro and Spanish beats, Celtic songs, and a bit of reggae (Koffee brand). I hope to improve my skills post-residency and become a professional artist. Getting a Grammy award while being a practicing family physician is achievable!
I like public speaking, and I hope to be a motivational speaker, inspiring lives virtually and physically.
Other hobbies I enjoy include cooking, crafts with crotchet, watching movies, and spending time with my family.
