Clerkship
The UAMS Clerkship in Adult Neurology is designed to give a firm grounding in fundamental neurologic concepts, and in the recognition and initial management of emergent and common neurological and ophthalmologic problems. The clerkship relies on self-directed learning that builds from the didactic and clinical experiences provided during the rotation.
At UAMS, the neurology/ophthalmology clerkship is a combined clerkship with students spending three weeks on neurology and one week on ophthalmology during the four week block. The single week of ophthalmology can occur in any of the four weeks. If students have any particular interest (such as MS, ALS, epilepsy, or Neuro ICU), we will be happy to customize the rotation to accommodate. On their rotation, students will have the opportunity to view and participate in experiences with lumbar puncture, botulinum toxin injection, EEG, EMG, and Telestroke via the Arkansas Saves program.
Acting Internship
An M4 Acting Internship in Neurology is also encouraged, and the rotation is customizable to meet the student’s particular interests in Neurology. Please contact Cassandra O’Neal at COneal@uams.edu for more information regarding AIs.
