Our curriculum at UAMS is robust and consists of primarily hands-on training in the operating room by our world-renowned surgeons. Our surgical chiefs easily graduate with an excess above and beyond the required 850 surgical cases, and by the time our residents are PGY-5s, they are already training the future generations of surgeons. Outside of the operating room, we also have weekly morbidity and mortality conferences to highlight interesting cases and complications. We also have weekly didactics and monthly journal clubs to stay up to date on the latest literature. In addition, we have hands-on training for robotics and a state-of-the-art simulation center for endoscopic and laparoscopic training.
