
Dr. Marcelo Bigarella, a highly qualified and fellowship-trained urologic oncologist, has been recognized for extensive dedication in the diagnosis and management of urologic cancers. He has completed the AUA-SUO Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin and was involved with Prostate Cancer research at the Carbone Cancer Center, an Institution part of the NCCN consortium. He is specialized in medically challenging patients and complex tumors such as locally advanced kidney tumors, complex urinary diversion, and retroperitoneal surgeries.
At the AUA 2024 meeting in San Antonio, he was awarded the Best Poster Award for the analysis of of the diagnostic trial using PSMA PET MRI accuracy detecting clinically significant prostate cancer in men on active surveillance. The trial is set to be published and may change the way prostate cancer is diagnosed more accurately. In 2023, he was invited as a “Thought Leader of the Future” at the Prostate Cancer Foundation meeting held at UCLA.
Dr. Bigarella has presented at scientific meetings such as AUA, Society of Urologic Oncology, International Kidney Cancer Symposium (IKCS), Wisconsin Urological Society, and the Arkansas Urologic Society meeting.
With advanced expertise in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery, he will treat all types of genitourinary malignancies, including prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testis cancer, and penile cancer patients.
