About Us

The mission of the Department of Medical Humanities and Bioethics is to improve the health, health care and well-being of Arkansans and of others in the region, nation and the world by addressing the ethical and humanistic issues raised in health care delivery and research. In a world of rapid scientific and technological advances, medicine faces increasingly complex human problems and possibilities not foreseen by or included in traditional medical education.
