Actively Involved
The Department of Medical Humanities and Bioethics is actively involved in medical education at all levels, both within the College of Medicine and in the state at large through:
- A course in Medical Ethics required of medical students
- Elective seminars in art, law, literature, religion, disease and society, death and dying and other humanities disciplines
- A course in Ethics for Residents required of clinical housestaff
- An Intensive Workshop in Healthcare Ethics for practicing physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains and other professionals
- Continuing education courses for nurses, social workers and other health professionals through their own professional organizations
- Monthly ethics programs at both UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital
- Programs presented to professional staff at most Arkansas hospitals

Ethics Grand Rounds
An educational forum on a wide range of ethical issues in healthcare. All ACH and UAMS staff are invited to attend on-site at ACH or through videoconferencing.
