Eric Rosenbaum, M.D., MPH

Eric Rosebaum, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Rosenbaum is an Associate Professor of Pathology and board-certified pathologist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He was born and raised in Long Beach, California and earned his Bachelor of Science with Highest Honors in Genetics from the University of California, Davis. He went on to complete a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in the field of molecular structure. He ventured south to Atlanta where he began his medical education at Emory University, earning both a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health. Dr. Rosenbaum came to Arkansas for residency in pathology, followed by a fellowship in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. He holds subspecialty board-certification in this field.

As clinical faculty, Dr. Rosenbaum holds joint appointments at UAMS and the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He is currently medical director of the UAMS Clinical Microbiology Laboratory where he pioneered in Arkansas use of new technologies for rapid identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing of microorganisms. At the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Rosenbaum is an attending clinical pathologist and medical director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, Molecular Diagnostics and Immunology Laboratory, and Transfusion Services. He has served the State of Arkansas during his tenure as Branch Chief of Clinical Testing at the Arkansas State Health Laboratory between 2011 and 2017. There he oversaw the molecular, microbiologic, serologic, and newborn screening testing laboratory divisions. He continues to serve Arkansans as a Governor-appointed member of the Arkansas State Crime Board and as a state-elected Arkansas delegate to the College of American Pathologists.

His clinical, academic, and research interests focus on laboratory quality assurance and laboratory accreditation, modernization of the clinical microbiology laboratory, good manufacturing practice of human-derived therapeutic products, diagnostic parasitology, and medical education.
