2026 Surgery Research Symposium Recap
The Department of Surgery hosted its Fifth Annual Surgery Research Symposium on March 17, 2026. The event drew 75 attendees, including faculty and residents, and featured 33 student presenters from Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Otolaryngology.
The judged poster session showcased a wide range of research and provided an opportunity for trainees to present their work and engage with faculty.

- Second Place: Elliott Radovan
- Third Place: Nicki Hooten
Tatsuo Kawai, MD, PhD, Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, delivered the keynote address:
“Preclinical and Clinical Studies on Kidney Xenotransplantation from Genetically Modified Pigs.”
The presentation highlighted innovative and forward-looking research with significant implications for the future of transplantation.
Now in its fifth year, the Surgery Research Symposium continues to serve as a forum for collaboration and scholarly engagement. The department looks forward to the next symposium in March 2027.
