Welcome to our newest residency matches!

Hometown: Fayetteville, Arkansas
Undergrad: University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
Medical School: UAMS
Why I chose UAMS: I wanted to join this family of residents. When I was a medical student here, I was invited to a few weekly get togethers and it looked like a great group of friends. They also have a tradition of matching residents into specialties at highly competitive programs across the nation.
What I like about Little Rock: You’re never far from something to do. Between Argenta, Hillcrest, Heights, and Downtown there is always live music, outdoor festivals, or a new place to grab a drink within 15 minutes of my house. Outside the city you can quickly get to the Ouachita National Forest, Greer’s Ferry Lake, or Hot Springs for a weekend in nature!
What I like about our faculty: At work: They have a great sense of what you need to succeed and treat each resident as an individual learner. Whether in clinic or the operating room you will quickly gain confidence and be given ample opportunity to practice with (supervised) independence. Outside of work: The faculty host us to their homes frequently for didactic activities. If you are at the Children’s Hospital stick around at the end of the week and ask Dr. Richter about Friday afternoon club! Our administrative team also sets up department events for everyone’s family to join.
What I do in my free time: I like to keep busy even on weekends I’m off call. In the spring and summer, I make a point to float the rivers in north Arkansas every few weeks. The rest of the year I try to catch the Razorbacks playing football or basketball with my friends.
Little Rock Fun Fact: Every fall Little Rock hosts an international cheese dip festival where you can sample different recipes carrying around a muffin pan. Rumor has it the first cheese dip was melted here in 1935. I'll be a fourth time participant this fall, AMA.

Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Undergraduate: University of Central Florida
Medical School: University of Central Florida College of Medicine
Fun Facts: I love playing volleyball, spike ball, working out, and used to breakdance competitively.
What do you like about our program? The residents here just look out for each other, which is comforting to know you always have support from your cohort.
What do you like about Little Rock? I love that we have all four seasons here, and I'm still able to do the things I love as well as try new things such as floating the Buffalo.
Why did you choose UAMS? I chose UAMS partly because of the strong surgical volume in pediatrics and head/neck, and I also came here because the culture within the resident cohort is so supportive.

Why I chose UAMS: Growing up in Arkansas, I decided to return to UAMS for my away rotation. I fell in love with the family feel of the program. Faculty and upper-level residents are not only invested in your growth as residents, but also personally. I have found incredible lifelong mentors here at UAMS.
What I like about Little Rock: Arkansas as a whole is filled with beautiful scenery. I never get tired of seeing endless rolling hill in central Arkansas from the top floor of the hospital. Additionally, life in here is easy and affordable. No struggles of big cities.
What I like about our faculty: Our faculty here provide a perfect balance of autonomy and guidance surgically and clinically. We have strong staff at UAMS, VA, and Children’s Hospital.
What I do in my free time: Having a baby at home, I love to spend my free time with my family. Asides from this, we love to take short trips to lakes and hiking trails in Ozark.
