Alissa Kanaan, M.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, has been appointed to a three-year term on the International Liaison Committee of the American Rhinologic Society (ARS).
The committee advocates for international members and those interested in international affairs, advises the ARS Board of Directors and staff on the development of international programs, and develops programs to recruit international members and broaden the society’s involvement in foreign countries.
Kanaan offers endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery and treatment for chronic sinusitis, nasal obstruction and fungal sinusitis.
She received her medical degree at the American University of Beirut in 2007, where she also did an internship in general surgery in 2008 and residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in 2012. She completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at McGill University Montreal in Quebec, Canada, in 2013 and one in rhinology and allergy at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2014.
She is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
