On Tuesday, March 12, the IDW Education Building was alive with intellectual fervor as the Department of Surgery hosted its highly anticipated Third Annual Surgery Research Symposium. With over 75 attendees, including esteemed faculty, residents, and medical students, the event proved to be a resounding success, highlighting the cutting-edge research endeavors within the department.

Vascular Surgeon Andre Ramdon, M.D., Joins UAMS
Andre Ramdon, M.D., a fellowship-trained, board-certified vascular surgeon, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an associate professor in the College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Henry-Tillman Inducted into Arkansas Black Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Dr. Ronda Henry-Tillman, Professor and Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery and Chief of Breast Oncology in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, on being selected as a 2023 inductee in the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame.
Dr. Mavros Receives KL2 Scholar Award
Six early-career researchers have been selected to receive two years of funded translational research training and support in the UAMS Translational Research Institute (TRI) KL2 Mentored Research Career Development Scholar Awards Program. Second Annual Surgical Research Symposium was a Success
The second annual UAMS Surgical Research Symposium was held May 9 with an enthusiastic turnout. We had over 50 attendees with 25 presenting posters.
