I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because: I really loved my visit to Little Rock! The folks I met were all so friendly, and the town felt cozy in a way I wasn’t expecting. UAMS feels like the perfect blend of close to home and new/challenging. I got the impression from my interview and from all of my interactions with program members since that I would be valued and respected here.

It’s a large medical center that sees a high number of patients and unusual pathology so I knew I would get exposed to a lot. Arkansas seemed like a great place to live and when I visited everyone was friendly.

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because: everyone was so kind when I interviewed, and I felt especially excited to learn more about residency on interview day. Developing autonomy and skills also seemed to be a common goal between me and the program. I loved the access to opportunities the residents had, the support from program faculty, and the ability to stay relatively close to home!

On interview day, I knew that if I came to UAMS, I would be given the support to achieve my goals. I also participated in the couple's match and appreciated how my husband felt at home during his interview day.

The staff and residents create a supportive environment that facilitates a positive learning experience. There is a wide range of pathology to encounter and lots of learning opportunities! Plus, I get to work alongside some amazing people.

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because: This is home, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for residency, especially knowing the high-quality training that residents receive here. I had the privilege of working with and getting to know some of the residents and attendings during medical school, and I knew early on that the UAMS Pediatrics program would be like a welcoming family! Best decision!

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and: I love the city of Little Rock. I spent my third year of medical school here and found that Little Rock has a little bit of everything. It has the connivance and culture of a big city and the landscape of a rural area with a lot of opportunities for outdoor sports. UAMS impressed me with its culture of teamwork and community. My fiancé and I both felt like Little Rock was the perfect place to continue this adventure!

Home Town: Originally from Ethiopia, I consider Central Arkansas my home away from home. I’ve lived in this area for nearly a decade and both my kids were born at UAMS.

Also, Little Rock seemed like it had lot to offer in terms to things to do, from enjoying the beauty of nature to eating yummy foods!

I felt I could connect with everyone, and I could feel the great vibe amongst the residents. Serving such a large population, I was confident about the training I would receive at ACH, but what made UAMS my 1st choice was the friendly & approachable people. I remember logging off on the interview day with a smile!
