Research Goals
Research in my laboratory focuses on elucidating the mechanisms regulating the signaling pathways in response to DNA damage and the mechanism for repair of chromosomal double-strand breaks (DSB) that arise during physiological DNA metabolism and after radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Our research aims to understand the impact of deregulated DSB repair on carcinogenesis, tumor resistance, and normal tissue injury during cancer treatment. With the understanding of DNA repair process and its crosstalk with intracellular metabolism, and extracellular microenvironment, we hope to develop novel avenues for both cancer prevention and personalized cancer treatment.
