On January 18th and 19th, the North American Neuromodulation Society met to discuss advances in the fields of spinal cord, peripheral nerve, and deep brain stimulation for the treatment of chronic pain and other chronic diseases. Lauren Byers, APRN, won the nurse practitioner travel award for her presentation of dorsal root ganglion stimulation for persistent genital arousal disorder. Christopher Maranto (CA-3) and Tolga Suvar (CA-3) presented on the use of neuromodulation for the treatment of complications of kyphoplasty and complex regional pain syndrome respectively.
Lastly, Heejung Choi, M.D., Christopher Paul, M.D., and Johnathan H. Goree, M.D., attended an investigators meeting for Nevro DPN trial, the first multicenter, randomized prospective trial for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy with spinal cord stimulation. UAMS is one of sixteen sites that is currently enrolling patients.
