Thanks to support from the Arkansas IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence Grant (NIGMS (P20 GM103429) at NIH), UALR is pleased to host its first ever UALR Bioinformatics Discovery Day on April 14, 2017 at the Donaghey Student Center on the UA Little Rock Campus. Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary science that combines life sciences, computer/information sciences, statistics/mathematics, and even some engineering in order to analyze and interpret biological data. Bioinformatics has many exciting applications and the growth potential of this field is enormous. This free event is open to all college/high school students, faculty, and guests as a way to find out more about bioinformatics, the educational resources available, and the many research/career opportunities that students can pursue.
This event will feature speakers, panels, and a research showcase. The event will start with breakfast and registration starting at 8:30 am. At 9 am, Dr. David Ussery, Director of the Arkansas Center for Genomic and Epidemiology and Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will deliver the keynote.
