CI Fellow on Winning AI Competition Team

Clinical Informatics Fellow Dr. Lori Wong is part of a team from the UAMS Institute for Digital Health & Innovation (IDHI) named as a finalist in the world’s largest spatial artificial intelligence competition.

The IDHI team was one of 13 North American university teams named as finalists in the 2021 OpenCV AI Competition.

The IDHI team, self-dubbed the “Little Rock-ies,” pitched an idea to use AI cameras to perform airway risk assessments on patients. Their win garnered the team 10 OAK-D cameras, which can be used to detect and identify real-world objects.

Dr. Wong’s teammates are IDHI Director and Clinical Informatics Fellowship Site Director Dr. Joseph Sanford, IDHI Associate Director and Fellowship Rotation Supervisor Dr. Kevin Sexton, Adria Abella Villafranca, Michael Cruz, Catherine Shoults and Pablo Trevino.
