Se-Ran Jun, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI), has been selected to serve as an editor for Microbiology Spectrum.
Microbiology Spectrum is a publication of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and publishes research from all domains of basic, applied, and clinical microbial sciences. It has an impact factor of 9.0. With over 30,000 members – including researchers, educators and health professionals – ASM is one of the largest life science societies in the world.
“I feel honored to serve on the editorial board for an organization and journal with such wide-reaching impact and leadership in the field,” Dr. Jun said.
As a member of the editorial board, Dr. Jun will provide peer review for submitted manuscripts and assist with setting the vision for Spectrum and guiding its growth. The journal focuses on research studies that are of high technical quality and are useful to the community. Major goals include promoting practices for open science and developing new initiatives to widen the involvement in and transparency of the review process.
Dr. Jun will be asked to bring her areas of expertise to bear as an editor. Her work focuses on:
- Microbial Genomics
- Microbiome Science
- Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance
- Translational Bioinformatics
