Application Instructions
The first step for seeking entry into the program is completing the UAMS Graduate School’s application for admission. After completing the application including the required documentation, the full application will be reviewed by the DBMI Admissions Committee (DBMI-AC). The decision of the DBMI-AC about an applicant will be passed to the Graduate School.
Documentation for submission
Documents must be submitted to the UAMS Graduate School via email or ordinary mail to the following address:

The documentation required includes:
- Official copies of transcripts of all of the institutions you have attended. Official copies should be sent directly from every college or university the applicant has previously attended to the Graduate School Office. Academic transcripts should include all courses, grades, credits attempted and degree(s) earned. All transcripts become the property of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Graduate School and will not be released to the applicant or to any other person, institution or agency. No official action is taken on any application until all transcripts are received.
- Current CV/Resume.
- Written statement. The candidate’s written statement of interest must convincingly demonstrate alignment of the candidate’s career goals with the goals of the program. The most competitive candidates will have evidence of prior pursuit of projects, courses, work, or internship experience in Biomedicine or Biomedical Informatics.
- Official copy of score (or scores) acceptable to the program on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Note that this requirement can be waived at the discretion of the DBMI-AC but a request and rationale for the waiver must be submitted by the applicant. For instance, if the applicant has an advanced graduate degree in another specialty.
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic experience. Letters should be from researchers and/or professionals who are familiar with the candidate’s educational background.
