Cutting Edge Plastic Surgery
The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences offers innovative reconstructive plastic surgery for the entire state of Arkansas. The division provides state-of-the-art reconstructive surgical care to patients of all ages, with expertise in implant-based breast reconstruction, surgical complex wound management, and complex skin and soft-tissue repair, among others.
The plastic surgeons at UAMS have exceptional training and experience due to special credentials like subspecialty, fellowship training in breast reconstruction surgery, craniofacial, cleft lip and palate surgery, and maxillofacial surgery. The division also offers aesthetic plastic surgery. Care is provided at UAMS Health and Arkansas Children’s.
The plastic surgery division has the state’s most experienced reconstructive surgeons covering emergency reconstructive care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also work closely with other disciplines to enable them to perform complex cancer procedures. Their collaboration with surgical oncology, breast surgical oncology, orthopedic oncology, urological oncology, general urology, neurosurgery, colorectal surgery, trauma surgery among others allows UAMS to provide highly customized and intricate reconstructive surgery after tumor extirpation, injury, or infection, not available in most other regional centers in Arkansas. By working closely with other surgical disciplines, they can consistently deliver high-quality patient care, in addition to providing the state’s best reconstructive plastic surgery, which in turn also offers a specialized level of training and education to our surgery residents and medical students.
At Arkansas Children’s, the division provides reconstructive surgery following trauma, infection, and developmental and birth deformities. A wide spectrum of pediatric plastic surgical deformities is treated, such as nevi, facial cutaneous tumors, unfavorable scars, breast anomalies, soft-tissue defects, delayed burn contractures, pressure injuries, hypertrophy of breasts, cleft lip and palate, and craniofacial and maxillofacial deformities.
