On Tuesday, March 12, the IDW Education Building was alive with intellectual fervor as the Department of Surgery hosted its highly anticipated Third Annual Surgery Research Symposium. With over 75 attendees, including esteemed faculty, residents, and medical students, the event proved to be a resounding success, highlighting the cutting-edge research endeavors within the department.
One of the highlights of the forum was the presentation of 26 scientific posters, showcasing the diverse array of research initiatives undertaken within the department.
The event featured a distinguished keynote speaker, Dr. Martin Schreiber, Trauma Medical Director and Chief of the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Schreiber, renowned as a leader in the trauma community, delivered an insightful presentation titled “Stem Cells in Trauma: The Dawn of a New Era,” shedding light on the potential of stem cell research in revolutionizing trauma care.
A significant highlight of the symposium was the recognition of outstanding research contributions through awards for the best posters.
