Congratulations to residents Dr. Megan White and Dr. John Pagteilan, who have received the UAMS College of Medicine Outstanding Teaching Award. Traditionally, this award has gone only to faculty, but this year, the college expanded it to include residents.
Faculty and residents win this award through a nomination process from medical students and housestaff.
Dr. White’s Nomination
“Dr. White always has a great attitude and was constantly teaching. This was particularly helpful as surgery was my first clerkship. She taught me how to present patients, how to write our notes, and taught things that were helpful for quizzes and in clinical practice.”
Dr. Pagteilan’s Nomination
“Dr. Pagteilan was the best teacher I have had so far in clerkships. He has high expectations for students, treated everything as a learning opportunity, was very approachable, and was genuinely concerned about how the students were doing throughout our rotation.”
