Neurointerventional radiology, also known as Neuroendovascular surgery, is the subspecialty where highly trained subspecialty physicians use a combination of minimally invasive techniques and image guidance to treat vascular and non-vascular diseases of head, neck, and spine. Use of minimally invasive techniques for diagnoses and treatment allow short hospital stays, quicker recovery, and low procedural risks for some of the most complex vascular and non-vascular diseases of head, neck, and spine.
UAMS has a team of three Neurointerventional Radiologists (NIR), dedicated NIR technologists, and nurses. No other regional institution compares to us in terms of staff, expertise, and equipment. The mission of UAMS Neurointerventional Radiology is to offer the best minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment solutions to our patients for a wide range of conditions involving the brain, the head and neck, and the spine.
Our recognized team of dedicated experts has extensive experience in providing endovascular treatment and embolization for intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM) and dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVF). In addition, we manage and treat stroke, carotid artery stenosis, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), cavernomas, developmental venous abnormalities (DVA), moyamoya disease, superficial vascular malformations, spinal vascular malformations and many more conditions.
Vision
Our vision is to serve as part of a multidisciplinary team providing the region’s most advanced care for patients with Cerebrovascular and Spine disease.
