Pediatric Radiology is based at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH), a tertiary care regional referral center and teaching hospital recognized as the state’s only pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center, burn center, Level 4 neonatal intensive care, and pediatric intensive care. Our group of radiologists interprets approximately 100,000 examinations annually on state-of-the-art equipment including a new 3T MRI in a newly designed MRI suite. A sister campus, Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW), located in Springdale, Arkansas brings 233,613 square feet of inpatient beds, emergency care, clinic rooms and diagnostic services to children in that corner of the state.
Our faculty includes 12 board-certified radiologists at ACH and two board-certified radiologists at ACNW. Each has completed additional fellowship training in pediatric radiology and has either obtained or is eligible for Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) certification. The division provides patient care and training in all aspects of pediatric imaging, including radiography, digital fluoroscopy, neonatal radiology (includes ECMO), neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, interventional procedures, angiography, cardiac imaging, ultrasound, CT, MRI (including MR angiography and spectroscopy), and bone densitometry. A fully staffed fetal imaging program has recently been developed.
Our guiding principles:
- Perform imaging studies and procedures of the highest quality for infants and children
- Tailor our studies and equipment to reduce radiation exposure to our patients
- Minimize patient anxiety and discomfort
- Teach the next generation of radiologists to capably deliver imaging care for children
Pediatric Radiology Fellowship
Pediatric radiology offers an ACGME-approved one-year fellowship
Resident Training
Diagnostic radiology residents spend one or two four-week rotations in Pediatric Radiology per academic year. Residents are actively involved in image interpretation and dictation, and attend Pediatric Radiology conferences and multidisciplinary conferences. Daily assignments include main reading room, fluoroscopy, body imaging, neuro imaging, and interventional radiology.

- Book and book chapter authorship
- National and international radiology society leadership
- Society committee service, meeting coordination, and meeting presentation
