The for the third year in a row, the College of Medicine’s student biodesign team has taken home top honors at the Annual Society of Interventional Radiology Biodesign Competition, held this past weekend on Toronto, Canada. This year’s winning team of medical students – Rodrigo Meade, Smyan Kothapally, Tayler Appleton, Shivani Koundinya, and Cameron Taylor – designed an innovative protective shield to help prevent eye damage in radiologists, who face increased risk of cataracts over time due to occupational exposure. Congratulations to our Interventional Radiology faculty and students on this remarkable winning streak!
Dr. James Meek, and Dr. Jeff Lynch, served as the team’s faculty mentors.
