The Department of Microbiology and Immunology hosted the American Society for Microbiology South Central Branch Meeting at the Statehouse Convention Center last November 10-11. Close to 200 scientists and trainees from Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi participated in the two-day event and shared their work in the plenary and poster sessions.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the UAMS Student and Postdoc ASM South Central Branch Chapter hosted a Career Development Luncheon for trainees who are considering careers in STEM. The invited panelists have expertise in undergraduate education, government research, and basic science research at a medical school.
