Dr. Pillow was a beloved and devoted physician who touched the lives of many at UAMS and in his hometown of Helena, Arkansas, where he cared for patients until his death on February 3, 2024. After earning a degree in microbiology at Mississippi State University, Dr. Pillow obtained his medical degree at UAMS in 1999. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at UAMS in 2003. Shortly thereafter, in 2005, he founded the Pillow Clinic in his hometown with his brother James, a family medicine physician. Eventually, the practice grew to include their brother Ned, who completed his internal medicine and pediatrics residency at UAMS in 2006, and Ned’s wife, Jill, a pediatrician.
While in medical school, Dr. Pillow met his wife Jessica (Causbie) Pillow, who is now a dermatologist in Helena. They have one son, Jackson. Outside of work, Dr. Pillow was a loving father who enjoyed cheering for his son at football and basketball games and track meets. He also enjoyed time spent outdoors; his hobbies included camping, canoeing, riding dirt bikes, and working in his shop. Tributes to Dr. Pillow highlight his dedication to his family, his profession, and his patients as well as his compassion, intelligence, wit, and humility.
Dr. Pillow is survived by his wife, their son, and many extended family members, including those with whom he worked.
