Message from the Chair

Edward Yeh

Edward T.H. Yeh, M.D., FACC

I am delighted that you are exploring our fellowship website. I believe the three most important aspects of fellowship training are an engaged faculty, a good patient mix, and strong institutional support.  We are incredibly strong in all of those areas. While the fellow is often the first at the bedside to evaluate and begin management of a patient, a faculty member is right behind them. Patient care and teaching our fellows how to provide outstanding patient care is the highest priority to our faculty, and the fellows find caring for patients extraordinarily satisfying at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

We see patients from all over the state, from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, and with very common and rare problems. This diverse patient population provides a depth and breadth to clinical training received by our fellows unsurpassed by any other academic medical center in the country. We have strong support both from the UAMS Medical Center and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS).

Our facilities are state of the art. In addition to the College of Medicine, the Colleges of Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Health Professions are on our campus which provide additional opportunities for education and research for our fellows. Fellows receive strong faculty mentoring for research and scholarship in basic science, clinical investigation, and population health, and faculty are strong mentors for scholarly productivity. Our fellows are successful during their stay at UAMS and after.  Whether a fellow decides to go into academic medicine or private practice, they have excellent opportunities available to them.
