About the Section of Pediatric Rheumatology
The position is available immediately, but the start date is negotiable. The Section of Pediatric Rheumatology provides inpatient and outpatient care at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and outpatient services at Arkansas Children’s Northwest and collaborative sites.
The section receives approximately 900 patient referrals a year and treats children with a vast array of rheumatic conditions including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, dermatomyositis, inflammatory and degenerative eye diseases, autoinflammatory disorders, scleroderma.
Faculty share in clinical, education, and research responsibilities of the section and develop clinical, translational research programs in their areas of interest or are involved in the section’s active clinical trials program in addition to quality improvement initiatives. Section faculty also participate in student, resident, and fellow education, as well as in mentorship of adult rheumatology fellows and junior faculty.
Skills and Qualifications
Qualified candidates will hold a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent, be board-certified in Pediatrics and be board-eligible/board-certified in Pediatric Rheumatology.

Practice Is Based at Arkansas Children’s Hospital
The Arkansas Children’s system includes two hospitals, a statewide care network of clinics and outreach programs, a research institute and a foundation. Arkansas Children’s is the only pediatric health system in the state of Arkansas, providing coverage to the state’s children from birth to age 21. The hospital staff consists of more than 500 faculty, 200 residents and 4,400 support staff.
