Opportunity Highlights
- Works collaboratively with the department chair and Arkansas Children’s Hospital leadership to develop and implement:
- A strong educational program in pediatric rheumatology for medical students and residents
- A robust and ambitious strategy to advance the UAMS Department of Pediatrics Section of Rheumatology to national prominence
- Expand pediatric rheumatology services across the state through ACH, Arkansas Children’s Northwest, satellite clinics and telehealth programs
- Direct efforts of the specialized JIA, diagnostic join ultrasound and injection clinics
- An ongoing process to identify and remediate gaps in service or quality
- Integrated systems of care, when appropriate, such as a common intake, standardized assessment tools, and processes
- Accountable for the overall clinical and financial performance of the section
- Promotes patient- and family-centered care in all activities
- Nurtures the development of new multidisciplinary collaborative research projects within the section and other institutional, local, regional, national, and international collaborators
- Represents the section to external stakeholders (e.g., philanthropy, community)
- Guide section expansion — by October 2022, the section will include four physicians, two APRNs, two specialty nurses and two administrative support staff
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree and board certification in pediatrics and pediatric rheumatology
- Strong leadership skills with a proven history of excellence in academic, clinical and research settings
- Academically minded with the aim and ambition to promote clinical and translational research
- At least five years of experience in an academic pediatric rheumatology program with pediatric rheumatology training and certification
- Previous leadership experience in an academic pediatric rheumatology program preferred
- Direct experience managing complex patients
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, providing effective communication, both verbal and written, and an interest in furthering the research, scholarly and academic missions of the group
- Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes in the areas of quality, safety, satisfaction, and efficiency of care
- Highly proficient with EMR/EHR, e-prescribing, telehealth and other electronic medical systems
Practice Is Based at Arkansas Children’s Hospital
The Arkansas Children’s system includes two hospitals, a statewide care network of clinics and outreach programs, a research institute and a foundation. Arkansas Children’s is the only pediatric health system in the state of Arkansas, providing coverage to the state’s children from birth to age 21. The hospital staff consists of more than 500 faculty, 200 residents and 4,400 support staff.
