Each May, the Department of Pediatrics and Arkansas Children’s Hospital recognize the hard work and dedication of our fellows. This year, Dr. Don Arnold, Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University in Nashville was our guest speaker. He also addressed our Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds as well.
This year’s honored fellows are:
Best Oral Presentation: Jacob Wooldridge, M.D. – Peds Clinical Informatics
Runner-Up: Nathan Epps, M.D. – Peds ICU
Best Abstract: C. Preston Pugh, M.D. – Peds Neonatology
Runner-Up: Mary E. Littrell, M.D. – Peds Hematology/Oncology
Best Poster: Murad Almasri, M.D. – Peds Cardiology
Runner-Up: Emily Sanders, M.D. – Peds Cardiology
In addition to recognizing these outstanding efforts, the Department of Pediatrics also named its prestigious Samuel D. Smith Outstanding Fellow of the Year and Outstanding Fellow Educator of the Year.
The Sam Smith award is given to the fellow who is nominated by program directors and fellows. This year’s winner was Patrick C. Bonasso, M.D., MBA in Pediatric Surgery.
The Outstanding Fellow Educator of the Year Award is presented to the fellow the Pediatric Residents voted as the best teacher. The winner of this award was Mary E. Littrell, M.D., in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
