Carla Brown, MD, is an Associate Professor in the department of Pediatrics, a division of Neonatology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She is a NICU Pediatric Hospitalist, the Assistant Director for Medical Student Education in Pediatrics, as well as the Director for the Pediatric Residency Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at UAMS.
Dr. Brown primarily focuses her research on newborn deficiencies and congenital abnormalities having several publications, oral posters and presentations across the nation and internationally.
Dr. Brown has been a beacon in her community through UAMS’ Women’s Mental Health Program and the Pulaski County Division of Children and Family Services Transitional Youth Program. She has also been involved with the Ozark Mission Project in Little Rock, and the Atsmophere Changers Inc in Wynne, AR. She has received numerous awards including the UAMS Phenomenal Women Award (2024), Educator of the Year (2022), Academic House Faculty Excellence Award (2022, 2023) and Outstanding Teacher Award (2020) among many others.
