Home Town: New Orleans, Louisiana
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: Pathophysiology. I feel that medicine is a wonderful puzzle, and I enjoy figuring out how the puzzle pieces fit together. Clinical practice, new innovative practices, and social determinants of health are all pieces to the puzzle. Understanding the “why” behind disease processes and learning how to apply these concepts to preventative medicine have inspired me to pursue a career in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics.
Things that make me unique are: My long, curly hair. On a serious note, though, hearing about other people’s life stories truly inspires me. I love to try new things and explore new places. However, after years of trying and practicing, I still cannot whistle.
I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Travel and be outdoors, cook and bake, read, play board games, complete puzzles, and spend time with my wonderful family and friends.
To get myself motivated I think of: All my numerous blessings. I am truly grateful that I have made it this far in my education and medical career. I am excited to help others through my profession as a physician.
The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I’m reading: Anything fiction from romantic comedies to historical fiction to mysteries or even a motivational book.
With popcorn in hand the movie I’m watching is: Classic movies like Singing in the Rain or Meet Me in St. Louis, any of the Harry Potter movies, and a good romantic comedy like Sweet Home Alabama, Life As We Know It, or The Wedding Date.
Without a DVR on my cable box I’d miss (or I’m in front of the TV so I won’t miss): The Voice, Friends, Grey’s Anatomy (because I have not given up yet), Yellowstone, Gilmore Girls, the Ellen Show, and the sporting events (Geaux Tigers and Geaux Saints!).
On my iPod, iPhone, iMac, iPad, etc. I listen to: everything! I can listen to anything from Country Music to Pop to Singer-Songwriter. Lauren Daigle, Dave Matthews Band, Ed Sheeran, Michael Buble, Anderson East, and Celine Dion to name a few.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to: Although this will be my first time living in Little Rock, I am looking forward to hiking at Pinnacle Mountain State Park and exploring the River Market district.
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: I truly felt at home during my interview day. Everyone from the residents to the attendings to the program coordinator welcomed me with open arms. UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital offer several opportunities for me to expand my medical knowledge and improve my clinical skills as I treat a wide variety of patients with the support of a strong team.
