Interests:
Dr. Becton joined the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics, UAMS, in July 1985. and became Section Chief in 1993. Medical Director of the Hematology/Oncology service line since 1993. He has also served as POG/COG principal investigator/voting body member since 1993.
He has always taken clinical interests in hematologic malignancy, germ cell tumors and non-germ cell ovarian tumors, and benign hematology. Other duties have included serving as medical director of the Sickle Cell Program and the Hemophilia Treatment Center in the past, and also as the oncologist member of the Vascular Anomalies Center of Excellence Program.
Research:
Clinical research interests include acute myeloid leukemia, with previous membership on the Myeloid Disease Committee in POG and COG, and the Study Chair of two frontline POG AML protocols, POG 9124 and 9421.
His main mission at this time is to strengthen and accelerate the ongoing evolution and mentoring of the faculty, fellows, nurses, and research staff, and to promote the continued growth and development of our program.
