Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Jill Fussell graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in 1997. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 2000, completed a fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) at MUSC in 2002, and accepted an appointment in the UAMS College of Medicine as a Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics in the Section of Developmental Pediatrics and Habilitative Medicine. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2003, to Associate Professor with tenure in 2008 and promoted to Professor in 2017. She served as Associate Program Director of the UAMS Pediatrics Residency 20004-2008. She assumed the role of DBP Fellowship Director in 2007. and continues in that role currently. She became the Developmental Pediatrics and Habilitative Medicine Section Chief in 2018 and was awarded the Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s Harvey and Bernice Jones Endowed Chair in Developmental Pediatrics in 2019. She was awarded the Department of Pediatrics Educator of the Year award three times, 2005, 2008, and 2013. She has also served in multiple national leadership roles within DBP, including as an elected member of the Society of DBP Board 2017-2020. She was also elected to the Executive Committee of the National Council of Pediatric Subspecialties in 2016 and appointed Chair in 2020.
