Biography
Before joining the ACNC, Dr. Shlisky managed engagement activities and programming in nutrition science at the New York Academy of Sciences. Specifically, developing rules of engagement guidelines for work with diverse sectors and disciplines in the field of nutrition science and facilitating working groups around topic areas of obesity, diabetes and nutrition related diseases; nutrition for aging populations; and technology and innovation for food, agriculture, and nutrition.
Research Interests
Her work focuses on translating the ACNC’s nutrition science research into digestible, actionable messages to wide audiences through suitable channels, delivering a foundation to understand and use nutrition information. She works with research faculty to champion information sharing, transparency, and engagement with all invested segments, including research scientists, governing bodies and the private sector. Julie also helps identify and liaise with leading discipline experts for scientific advisory committees, support community engagement for study recruitment, and identify and support nominations for faculty and staff recognition.
