Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Maya Lopez, is an ABP-certified Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician working as an Associate Professor in the UAMS Department of Pediatrics. She completed General Pediatrics residency training in Mount Sinai School of Medicine-Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, New York, in 2000 and stayed there another year to serve as Chief Resident of Pediatrics. She then went on to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island for her fellowship training in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) and graduated in 2003. After her fellowship, she stayed on as faculty for 2 years at Rhode Island Hospital before moving to UAMS as a clinical instructor in the Section of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics in 2006. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2007 and to Associate Professor in 2013. Dr. Lopez served as the Director of the Resident Rotation in DBP from 2008-2016, has been serving as the Associate DBP Fellowship Program Director since 2010, and as Medical Director of the James L. Dennis Development Center since July 2018. She is the Medical Director of the James L. Dennis Development Center since July 2018 up to present. Dr. Lopez is currently the Principal Investigator for the AR Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring project and is the Project Leader of Healthy Child Care Arkansas.
